How much different would your Life have been:
Without foul lies and hateful torture, –
If Love, having spread Its wings,
Had taken over your Destiny!
The eternal fear would not have riveted your eyes:
The fear of drinking your fill of Beauty,
Having imprinted on your Heart and lips,
Everything your Soul could have been transformed with!
And there would be none of that silent hostility
Which puts out the heat of Heart and Revelation!
And there would be absolutely no need
To search for inspiration in every nook and cranny!
Oh, Love! You take us to the heavens,
Lifting off all limits and bans!
Give me the strength to transform my sadness
Into the radiance of Light!
So that you would become the Soul’s necessity!
But how can we know: what is sincere, and what is untrue?
Oh tell me, how can one inwardly restrain himself
From things that cannot be subdued!
Oh, Love, give me cordial Fire!
Now don’t roam stealthily beside me!
Let all within me that preceded You,
Remain a Mystery for everyone else!
From now on we shall be together – You and me!
